Demolition Day

Mr. Ron has been talking about having the roof of his workshop redone for awhile now. Then we had a hailstorm a week or so ago, and...well...let's just say that the roof didn't fare too well...

So this morning we heard a commotion outside, and looked out the window to find several trucks, trailers, and workers preparing to work on the roof.

Conner and Micah were terribly interested -- even ate their lunch on the front porch so that they could watch. Joey was taking a nap and missed it, but we just wheeled Grace in the highchair right out there with them so that she could watch, too. The men were actually knocking the old tin roof off with sticks and shovels. There was lots of noise, some sparks and smoke as they cut new tin -- very cool.

The coolest part came at the end of the day though, after all the commotion had died down and the workers had gone home. Conner and Micah got to go into the workshop and look through the ceiling rafters at the trees and sky above.

Tomorrow they will be putting the new roof on...but tomorrow morning Conner will be at school and the little brothers are going to stay with a friend so that I can run some errands in peace and get a little "me time." Looks like we'll probably miss that part...but lots of time the tearing down is more fun to watch, anyway!

Bret took those pictures Becca, and that was my first thought too. But then I started looking at it closer, and knowing those two boys it could have just as easily been that Conner had his hand out kind of pushing Micah away from something. You can't really see if they're actually holding hands... Bret, what's the story?

I love how the simplest things are so exciting. I love how you moved lunch outside to capture the scene. Free entertainment!

Yeah, they actually were holding hands this time...though it wasn't just a moment of brotherly love. I told them to stand next to each other while they were looking and Conner grabbed Micah's hand to bring him to where he was standing...
