Green Eggs and Ham

Last night, Micah asked if we could have green eggs and ham for breakfast (as in the book by Dr. Seuss). We don't do this often, but every now and then someone will ask, and I usually do my best to comply.

So this morning when we discovered that we did not have any ham, we decided that lil' smokies would have to work for our ham. Then while the boys dug through the stuffed animals for our "Sam I Am" toy, I dropped some green food coloring in our scrambled eggs, and Joey helped me make some biscuits.

As I was setting the table and calling everyone to come eat, I found that we were being joined by more than Sam I Am. He had brought some of his friends -- two Star-Bellied Sneetches, two snakes, and a dinosaur, to be exact.

I would love to say that we all sat down together and had a delightful family breakfast. But, there was a squabble over who would get to hold the dinosaur -- which resulted in tears and a time-out for one, a good scolding for another, and the perfect opportunity for Joey to get away with eating half of his breakfast before we even said the prayer.

But then once we finally got it all together, it was fun:
(Eat up, Sneaky Snake!)
(Still rubbing a teary eye...)
(Too busy eating to bother with feeding a stuffed animal!)(The thought and sight of green eggs is really a little bit difficult for Bret -- but he's always a trooper and plays along!)

As you know, the boys (the little ones, anyway) will never forget the time you spent playing along with them in this way. ...and they won't even ever think about the squabbling again until they are parents and their kids start squabbling and then there might be an early Christmas morning phone call to you saying....
